It's bones that are softskinnedbinded to a lowpoly tread that doesn't animate in a real way,just the UV's are offset to make it look like its moving.
Then I use two raycasts per wheel to deform the tread so it conforms to the ground.
The difficult things are really how to bind and weight the vertices of the tread so it will lay smooth against the ground.
Even in the Battlefieldmovie you had on the forum you can see that it is a little blocky to save polygons!
I can't give you the script,because I have plans to sell some tankmodels in the store and then set them up with the script so they are driveable.
The idea behind the script is pretty easy,it is really a matter of buildning a model that works (and make good textures).
